March 8th might be International Women's Day, but we're celebrating the powerful women and girls in our lives every day. Looking for ways to uplift the compassionate and impactful women in your life? We're here to help! We've compiled a list of thoughtful ways you can show HER that she makes a difference in your life. Coaches, teachers, mentors, caregivers, moms, and girls alike deserve to know how special they are!
1.) Write her a thoughtful note
This is one of our favorite ways to recognize the important people in our lives. It's so simple, but a meaningful, handwritten note goes a long way in showing her how much she means to you. Be sure to note what she does to make you smile or inspire you. For our GOTR girls completing this special sentiment, we encourage you to do a little research behind International Women's Day, what it's all about, and tie it back to your favorite person. In what way does she uplift other women? How does she stand up for what is right?
2.) Bake them their favorite treat
Okay, okay, we might be biased, or just looking for a way to sneak a HerSHEy's chocolate bar (in collaboration with GOTR, of course!) into the mix. Receiving a tasty treat, though, might be one of the best ways to let her know she's celebrated! Use a HerSHEy's bar in your cookie or brownie recipe for a perfectly-themed touch.
3.) Make a donation to a women-centered organization in their name
Suporting organizations that lift up girls and women is a wonderful way to make a meaningful difference in honor of your special personal this International Women's Day. Donating to Girls on the Run Worcester County means giving back to a mission working to build healthy physical and mental habits that last a lifetime. Be sure to indicate who you are making this important gift in honor of! If you choose to celebrate HER in this way, we want to thank you. You're celebrating GOTR participants, too, in the process, and we can't thank you enough!
4.) Match in a purple outfit with them
Did you now that purple is the chosen color for International Women's Day? It symbolizes dignity, confidence, power, and justice - what the day is all about! Ask the woman or girl in your life to match with you in a purple outfit on March 8th (or, get a group to match with you). Others will take note and ask the intention behind your matching garb. It's a great way to get the conversation flowing about an important cause!
5.) Make her an empowering playlist
Music connects us! To show the woman or girl in your life you care, make her a playlist she can take with her anywhere she goes. Include your favorite empowerment songs so she can sing along.
